As an aspiring professional baseball player, Kim took baseball seriously from a very young age. His passion and joy gave him a lifelong purpose that none other did. As he went up to middle school and high school to compete with other baseball players, he met great people and mentors who had as much talent and effort as he did. Naturally, Kim was behind other people’s hills, but once, while practicing batting, he realized that he was distracted by the ball movement too much, so he did not look sufficiently into his hit point, the right place to focus, and the right timing to hit. After equipping this mindset, a chance came to him, as all the bases were full. In this game, he hit a home run that won him a crucial game in the tournament.

Kim testified that he expanded this learning to his life outside baseball. Whenever he had a family dinner and movie night, he no longer watched his phone or played games but stayed focused on his family and friends. He began to see what is the right timing in human relationships, too, so that when someone feels significant joy or suffers cruel pain, he knew that it was the time for him to engage and share both joy and pain. After understanding these crucial lessons, he kept deriving important moral lessons from baseball like how to handle pressure and failure, which became his unique hobby.

After all his trials and tribulations, Kim is now waiting for a draft to start his new journey in the pro league. As he put it, “Life is a lot like a baseball game, but sometimes I have to focus and find the right timing to win a game and thus, sacrifice other things in life. However, I know that family, friends, and my teammates will always be the most important thing in my life, so I will never take my eyes off of them.”
